The Glaicers in our yard are receeding

Looks like things *may* warm up a bit. The weather was a balmy 48 deg. Fahrenheit yesterday. Warm enough I broke out the Barbecue and cooked up a few Pork Chops, and grilled some bell peppers, onions, and a portobello mushroom. After that I grilled some pineapple slices. It was all pretty dang good. while we were eating the storm that was threating to break while I was outside, finally let loose and it has been raining and sleeting ever since. I sure missed good barbecued food.

I’m not sure what Inez has booked up for herself this coming week, but I am going to be rather busy with school work. I’ve got one paper to write, a project proposal for my sculpture class to put together (costs of materials, reasons behind my ideas for the project, etc.) another sculpture to finish, which by the way basswood is a bugger to cut with a jig saw blade, the sawdust keeps packing up the blade, making it impossible to cut. I’ve got a bunch of pots to glaze and more to throw, and I have to finish casting a mold of my hand for use in a sculpture. All in all I’ve got allot to do. I hope you all have a good week as well.

Oh and I forgot that I will have to change out the Air Suction (a.k.a. reed) valve on my truck, when the part shows up this week.  Toyota conveniently quit manufacturing the part, and subsequently no one else makes it either.  I was finally able to track one down in a salvage yard in Denver, Colorado.   I sure hope it is in good condition, as I have to run the truck through emissions next month and I’m sure it won’t pass if that part is not functioning.

Spiderwick

We took the kids to see “The Spiderwick Chronicles” tonight. It was a pretty good movie, that flowed fast and just enough back story, etc that I didn’t feel lost or ripped off. After having sat through the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings (one of my favorite movie series) this movie felt a little short in length, though you have to remember the intended audience (mostly children) and for them I think it was the perfect length. I’m thinking that now I have seen the movies and I will need to read the books that the movie was based from.

I think Faythe really enjoyed the movie, Esperanza spent allot of the movie hiding behind her popcorn bag, or sitting in my lap hiding behind Inez’ coat.

The wrong kind of excitement

This past Wednesday Faythe was playing on the climbing wall / slide at his school and fell off, it was a nine foot drop to the bed of frozen snow and wood chips. He broke the fall with his face. Inez was there and helplessly witnessed the fall. She was able to get to him quickly and saw that he was hurt pretty bad. I had arrived home in time to get Esperanza from her and she hurried him off to the doctor. When Faythe landed his bottom teeth bit through his lower lip. Our GP said he could do the stitches but there would be a big scar, so he sent Inez and Faythe to a local plastic surgeon who promptly stitched up his lower lip. One hundred stitches later he was done, fifty on the inside and fifty on the outside of his lip. While he was working on Faythe’s lip he noticed that his lower teeth were loose, it appears that he fractured his jaw below the root line. Which means no solid food for five days and then soft foods for what seems like forever. He is starting to feel better now and is begging for solid foods. I think he is tired of Carnation Instant Breakfast and yogurt. He doesn’t mind the Fudgecicles and chocolate milk so much. He is also starting to feel better, as he is harassing his sister and us to no end.

In other news I will be attending the N.C.E.C.A. (National Council on Education for the Ceramics Arts) conference this year in Pittsburgh, PA. I look forward to going and seeing the latest happenings in the Clay Arts world. To be sure there will be tons of pictures taken. The conference is March 19th through the 22nd. Special thanks to Fred Myers for helping me with the plane tickets there and back again. I really appreciate them.

That’s all the news I have for now, I’ll post more later.

An Obvious Scam

Hey all,

Some of you got an email from me about this, I think it is important enough to post it here as well.

I just wanted to share a screen shot from an email I got today. It is obviously someone trying to scam me and steal my identity. I just wanted to give you all a heads up.

3 Reasons this is a scam:

1. The email address it comes from (circled red) service@irs.rd.gov rd.gov is not a U.S. government domain.
2. The url they want me to go to, to fill out the supposed form. That is a hexadecimal representation of an IP Address with a sub folder named www.irs.gov.
3. The IRS does not have my email address, I have never given it to them and official communications from the IRS would never come through email.

If you get an email like this do not click on the links provided or reply to them, just delete it and forget it.
